Through a joint decree by the Ministries of Economy and Finance and Mineral Resources and Energy, the Mozambican Government established a mechanism for setting reference prices for the export of mineral resources.
The decree is part of measure 6 of the PAE, which aims to strengthen the supervision of natural resource export operations.
The measure aims to combat under-invoicing, reduce tax evasion and increase the benefits of mineral exploration for the country. The decree will come into force tomorrow, June 19, 2023, and uses international market prices as a reference.
The announcement of the company selected to oversee the quantities and specifications of minerals exported by mining companies is expected, thus concluding the cycle of robust measures to reduce tax risks and combat tax evasion in the export of domestic resources.
