A note from the Minister of Interior was released today informing travelers about a temporary suspension of the pre-registration for visitors from visa-exempt countries announced as a result of the PAE measure 13 – the revision of the visa regime for entering the country.
The Minister of Interior informed that as of 1st May 2023, Decree No. 10/2023 dated 31st March will come into effect, exempting citizens from 29 countries from the requirement of presenting an entry visa to the country when traveling for tourism or business purposes.
Consequently, the need for pre-registration 48 hours prior to boarding announced in March, will be temporarily suspended.
The countries listed in the decree are Canada, Switzerland, UAE, Israel, United States of America, Russian Federation, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Finland, Indonesia, Ireland, Singapore, Ghana, Senegal, Germany, France, Italy, People’s Republic of China, Portugal and Ukraine). Citizens of these countries are authorised to travel to Mozambique without prior pre-registration. However, upon entry, they are still required to make a payment equivalent to 650 Mozambican Meticais and present a passport (or equivalent document) valid for at least 6 months; a round-trip flight ticket (for those traveling by air) and proof of accommodation.
The decree is meant to facilitate travel for citizens from the selected countries, streamlining the entry process for tourism and business purposes. The temporary suspension of the pre-registration requirement will provide greater flexibility and convenience for visitors from visa-exempt nations as the country ramps up its new immigration systems.
Travelers are still required to ensure they have all the necessary documentation and meet the specified requirements upon arrival. The payment of the designated fee and the presentation of valid identification and travel documents, including proof of accommodation, are vital for a smooth entry process into Mozambique.
The suspension of pre-registration is temporary and is subject to any be changed or updated in accordance with the policies and regulations of the Mozambican Ministry of Interior.
