The Economic Acceleration Measures Package (PAE) team in partnership with consultancies GreenLight and LBC, funding from IFC and support from USAID SPEED completed the Biofuels Market Feasibility Report for Mozambique.
The document is part of the work that has been developed within the scope of measure 10 of the PAE, which provides for the mandatory introduction of a mixture of Mozambican biofuels in imported fuels and offers a detailed analysis of the country’s potential for the production of bioethanol and biodiesel.
The study highlights crops such as sugar cane and cassava for the production of bioethanol, and oilseeds such as soybeans and sunflower for the production of biodiesel. In addition to assessing agricultural capacity, the report addresses the regulatory framework, necessary infrastructure and investment opportunities, with the aim of reducing dependence on fossil fuels and boosting rural and economic growth.
