The PAE team, in coordination with MITESS, is conducting from April 9 to 25 a consultation on the review of domestic work in the Provinces of Sofala, Inhambane, Nampula, Zambézia, and Maputo Province.

Today, April 11, in the cities of Beira and Nampula, the presentation of the proposal for the domestic work regulation took place, as part of the new labor law that was approved. In the city of Beira, the event was held in the conference room of the INSS and had a large participation of the target group and other relevant stakeholders.

The opening of the event was conducted by the Provincial Director of Justice and Labor, Nazarete Reginaldo, who highlighted the importance of framing this activity within the scope of measure 14 of the Economic Acceleration Package, composed of 20 measures, as part of the government’s efforts to adjust legislation according to national and international requirements. This aims to improve governance, the business environment, and promote development.

Likewise, the event was attended by Mrs. Marcia Judite Bernardo Vilanculos, representative of SINED, which is the union of domestic workers in Beira, and Jaime Armindo Zinhane Chicamisse, Delegate of INSS. The presence of these actors, who are the target group of the matter, demonstrates the joint commitment to discuss and promote improvements in the domestic work sector.

During the presentation, various aspects of the regulation proposal were discussed, including the rights of domestic workers, more dignified and safe working conditions, and issues related to social security. The event provided a crucial space for dialogue and the exchange of ideas among participants, aiming to ensure fair and comprehensive legislation for domestic workers.

In summary, the presentation of the proposal for the domestic work regulation was a significant step in the search for more inclusive and equitable legislation, reflecting the commitment of the government and various social actors to promoting the rights and duties of the employer and employee towards development.
