Within the scope of measure 7, the PAE team met with representatives of the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources – Mozambique Engineering Laboratory (MOPHRH/LEM), representatives of the National Institute of Standardization and Quality of Mozambique (INOQ ), World Bank and Implementation Unit of the Mais Oportunidades Project.
The objective of the meeting is to answer the question of how to use World Bank financing to implement Measure 7 activities with a focus on quality standards for construction materials. The participants were unanimous in highlighting that quality standards are very important in determining the mandatory production of quality materials needed for the construction market. According to LEM, it is pertinent that INOQ carries out a diagnosis to find out in more depth which are the most used construction products that require quality certification.
The LEM is responsible for testing the technical specifications of the materials, focusing on the issue of resilience.
