Last Thursday, September 12, 2024, the Council of Ministers approved the 7 names of financial professionals who will make up the Sovereign Fund’s Investment Advisory Council.
Approval is another important step for the Sovereign Fund, as it constitutes one of the mandatory stages for its operationalization. The approved professionals are:
Omar Mithá, experienced economist with extensive experience in investment banking and public finance, currently president of the National Investment Bank (BNI); Enilde Sarmento, experienced economist at the Ministry of Economy and Finance; Hercílio Simão, Head of Capital Markets at BNI; Egildo Massuanganhe, economist at the commercial bank; the renowned economist and professor Ibraimo Hassane Mussagy; Irene Luzidia Maurício, former executive at the Bank of Mozambique; and Mukhtar Abdul Carimo, commercial banking economist.
Following the law that creates the fund, the Investment Advisory Council must approve the investment policy to conclude a management agreement with the Bank of Mozambique. Sovereign Fund Investment Council Approved
