As part of the developments of measure 13, which aims to review and reformulate the visa regime, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, H.E. Eldevina Materula held an event at Polana Hotel to publicize the country’s new electronic visa platform – eVisa.
Speaking to an audience of diplomats and the country’s main tour operators, the Minister explained that the new electronic platform is an important milestone of the PAE but should be interpreted in conjunction with other measures of the package, including the tax reforms which combined will make the country more attractive and more conducive to foreign investment.
The Minister also highlighted that in the past the country saw the number of tourists almost doubled with the introduction of a border visa, and it is expected that the eVisa will have an even greater impact on the sector.
The event also featured a presentation by SENAMI showing the online platform and answering some questions from both the audience and online participants. The platform is still in an adjustment phase and should soon include an online payment option, however, it is already fully operational and processing visa applications.
